Woom – « The Hunt » & « Quetzalcoatl‘s Ship »
Les deux petites joyeusetés expérimentales ci-dessus sont l’oeuvre d’un duo d’artistes ayant déjà plusieurs projets musicaux à leur actif (Fertile Crescent, Flying..), originaires de Brooklyn, New York via Oakland, Californie. Ils ont déjà joué avec Deerhoof, les Dirty Projectors… Ils sont un peu durs à suivre, mais toujours est-il que Eben Portnoy et Sara Magenheimer aka Woom (jusqu’à nouvel ordre) seront en France pour plusieurs dates dans les prochains jours (les dates sont ci-dessous) et que leur premier album, Muu’s Way, sortira chez Ba Da Bing Records le 28 juin (Bada Bing qui est le nom du bar dans les Sopranos) (pour ceux qui ont pas suivi, je suis à fond dans cette série depuis une semaine). J’aime bien leur boulot sur les rythmes qui rappellent des tas de styles musicaux, sans qu’aucun ne se détache. Bref, c’est très créatif et agréable (les deux ne vont pas si souvent ensemble, croyez-moi).
The two little cheerful experimental tracks up there are from a duo with already multiple musical projects associated to them (Fertile Crescent, Flying..), hailing from Brooklyn, New York via Oakland, California. They already played with Deerhoof, the Dirty Projectors… It’s hard to keep track of them, but two things are certain : Eben Portnoy and Sara Magenheimer aka Woom (until further notice) will tour France in the next few days (dates are below) and their debut album, Muu’s Way, will be released on Ba Da Bing Records on June 28th (by the way, Bada Bing is the name of the bar in the Sopranos) (for those who don’t keep track of all my posts, I’ve been watching this show intensively for a week). I like their work on the rhythms, it makes me think about numerous musical style but none of them stand above the others. Anyway, that’s very creative and pleasant (that doesn’t happen that often, believe me).
